AIMS:

ZERO Lives Lost on our Roads.  Once a Learner becomes a P Plater, their Crash Risk skyrockets immediately to a very scary level....(actually they are 20-30 times more likely to be harmed in a crash than they were as a Learner Driver). Why?  Because they have no one in the passenger seat to tell them what to do.  They don't have that second pair of eyes anymore, they don't have an experienced driver to give advice or scream "stop", and on top of that, there are distractions - phones, friends, radio and other road users, new roads not travelled and so much more..

The 5 Top causes of Lives Lost on our Roads

- Excessive Speed

- Fatigue

- Seatbelts

- Distractions (ie. mobile phones, passengers, smoking)

- Impairment (drugs/Alcohol)

MY FOCUS:

Safety, Road Law, Hazard Awareness, Self Supervise, Self Assess, Self Instruct - Safe Driving For Life (Not just to pass your drive test).

I coach my students to make their own decisions and discuss measurable ways to make safe decisions.  I get them to drive like a P-Plater while still a Learner driver.  What does that mean?  That means, instead of giving instructions to stop at a stop sign, I will ask them to explain what they need to do at the upcoming intersection.  We discuss potential hazards and how we would deal with them.  Road law, "who gives way?" is a very common question.  If safe to do so, I will allow the learner to make mistakes and work out what went wrong and how we can fix it next time.  We will travel all different directions, all different types of road (including gravel), main roads, back streets, shopping center car parks and we make everything as realistic to solo driving as possible, therefore, as a student becomes more confident the radio may be on and the student will have control of this, they may put petrol into the car, maybe have directions come via a Navman, we may even go through a McDonald's drive through for a drink.

I have a super calm and positive approach.
