3 Point Turn
Reduce speed and indicate to the right. Staying on the left side of the road (but not in the gutter), Pull up with your right side mirror in line with the edge of the driveway you are turning into (this is the right side of the driveway edge). This is often (but not always) where the nature strip grass comes to a point and touches the footpath and the council driveway. Lean far forward and look across the face of the mirror to help line this up.
Turn steering wheel all the way to the right, check mirrors and over your right shoulder (headcheck) and slowly drive into the driveway, straightening the wheel as you enter the driveway. You may go on the footpath but do not pass the house fence line or into their private driveway (unless you are going in for coffee).
Put car into reverse - make sure wheels are straight (will also show in reverse camera), do the MEERKAT .... look Right, look left, and look out your back window immediately before reversing.
Keeping the wheels straight, when safe, reverse straight back until front wheels bump down from the driveway entrance onto the road.
Turn the wheel to the left (as you have "LEFT" the Driveway) whilst reversing until you are close to the opposite gutter. Stop. Again can use the reverse camera – or as guide, go until your left knee is in the middle of the road.
Turn wheel to the Right, put car into Drive, then look Left and Right (Do your Johnny/Postie Check) before moving off when safe to do so.
REMEMBER: Observations are always the last thing we do before moving in any direction - and when reversing this includes looking directly out of the back window.
